Thank you for your further interest in Compassion! Our prayer is that through our experience, you are able to catch a glimpse of the awesome work that God is doing through Compassion's ministry.
In early 2010, our church began a partnership with Covenant Family Church via a new initiative of Compassion International called Church 2 Church. The idea behind this initiative is that a church in the United States partners with a Compassion project church, and the members of the US church get the first chance to sponsor new children in that project. Because the church can concentrate on one Compassion project, we can pray together as a congregation, and can help the center with some of their projects.
In 2010, children at our summer Vacation Bible School program raised several thousand dollars to be able to build a playground for the church in Samuktala. In 2011, the VBS program drive will be contributing toward drilling a deep water well for the church.
This Compassion project is bringing hope and love to hundreds of children in the rural area of India. Despite violence against Christians in other parts of India, at churches where there is a Compassion project, no violence has occurred. This is because the communities appreciate the training and mentoring that the project provides, and stand up to protect the churches.
The video below will give you more of an idea of what occurs each day at the Duars Child Development Center. If you do not already sponsor a child through Compassion or another Christian organization, we would encourage you to do so. And if you are a sponsor, please be encouraged that your financial support is making an enormous difference in the lives of a child.
